Approach or Avoidance

Before:

Before practice, decide what you're moving toward rather than what you're trying to avoid. Pursuing success produces better effort than protecting yourself from failure. For example, you may want to avoid rather than approach a skill you’ve been struggling with or a workout that you know is going to be hard.

During:

Whenever you notice yourself becoming cautious or protective, ask, "Am I approaching success or avoiding failure?" Then recommit to pursuing your goal aggressively.

After:
