I presented a workshop yesterday on Mental Preparation for Big Events to members of TeamUSA who will be competing in the upcoming World Sprint Triathlon Championships in Hamburg, Germany, July 13-16 (I’ll be there competing as well!).
In the webinar, I offered useful information and practical tools to help my fellow World Team members be as mentally prepared as they can be for this big event. Topics I addressed include: 1) Attitudes (perspective, process, present, positive), Mental Muscles (motivation, confidence, intensity, focus, emotions), and Mental Tools (self-talk, mental imagery, routines, breathing).
My ideas focus on triathlon, but can be applied to any sport.
