In this final segment of my eight-part vlog series on sport parenting, we shift our focus onto what you can do with other sport parents to ensure a healthy athletic experience for your children. There is little doubt that you as a parent have an immense impact on your children’s sports involvement. At the same time, you are surrounded by many other sport parents who may or may not share your values and attitudes about youth sports. So, your best efforts at creating a healthy sports environment for your and other children may be either supported or undermined by other parents involved in your kids’ sport.
With the team your children competes for, it’s important that all parents are on the same page in terms of what you want your kids to get out of their sports lives.
In this vlog segment, I share with you five practical things you can do with other sport parents that will help to ensure a fun, healthy, and positive experience for your young athletes. These steps are so important because the “vibe” that parents create on a team, whether good or bad, will be powerfully felt by your children and impact how they feel and how they perform in their sport.
Your goal, in collaboration with other sport parents, is to actively create an environment that will establish a healthy foundation for your children’s sports experiences. To learn more about how you can accomplish this goal, watch this week’s vlog segment.
