One of the great obstacles you will experience as an athlete, particularly in your training efforts, can be summarized as what I call the negative emotional chain. The negative emotional chain involves a linked series of unpleasant and interfering emotions you experience as you face the inevitable challenges of developing as an athlete and making often-times unsteady progress toward your goals. The three emotions are frustration, anger, and despair.
