It’s almost become a cliche. Parents yelling at their children at practice or during games. Parents heckling the opposing team. Parents berating coaches. Parents threatening referees. Parenting fighting each other in the stands. In just about any sport, at every level of youth sports, on any given day, and on fields, courts, courses, and rinks around the U.S., you can see sport parents who have lost perspective and lost control.
Now, an Oklahoma soccer referee (and parent) is attempting to do something about this appalling trend by catching parents on video during their tirades and shaming them publicly. As described in a recent New York Times article, Brian Barlow is offering a $100 bounty for video clips of parents behaving badly.
If you want a wake-up call as a sport parent, watch the videos in the article!
