I have received an enthusiastic response from followers of my blog and social media to my recent post about the successful start of my 2023 triathlon season. Based on the positive reaction, and requests from several followers, I’ve decided to launch a new series titled, “I Practice What I Preach” in which I will share my triathlon journey this year with you.
The focus of the series will be on the experiences that I have that, hopefully, all triathletes (and other athletes) can relate to, using the many attitudes, approaches, and tools that I offer the athletes I work with in my own athletic life, and, most importantly, sharing the lessons I learn along the way that might benefit others.
I have been blogging on social media since 2009 and literally every post has been professional (meaning related to my work life). I suppose this series is a shift to a more personal approach, but one that blends my professional and athletic lives.
I take pride in my having been a high-level athlete in several sports (ski racing, karate, running, triathlon) all my life. My sports participation has brought tremendous meaning, satisfaction, and joy to my life. I believe that it helps me in my work with athletes because they know that I didn’t just read stuff in a book, but actually live it in my own athletic life. I’m also able to test out new mental strategies on myself (I’m my first guinea pig!).
I’m excited to share my journey with you, from the major successes (hopefully) to the inevitable challenges and disappointments (likely). I hope you enjoy joining me for the ride.
Be on the lookout for my first article in my new series next week.
