I was recently interviewed about the importance of giving during the holidays by a non-profit organization called Operation Warm that is dedicated to helping families in need.

During the holiday season, particularly for those of us who have so much, it is a good reminder to give to those who have so little. It is especially important to teach our children the value of giving.

As I discuss in the interview, the holidays have, sadly, become about consumption and getting rather than compassion, empathy, and sharing. We as parents need to do everything we can counter the messages from our materialistic culture and convey messages about values, such as giving, that really matter.
